Do I need a capture Card?

Hello Guys

As the title suggest, can I capture content from my pc without an actual physical capture card, like a software based capture solution?

Thanks. So am I able to record actions on my desktop with FRAPS. As an example if I was to make a tutorial of somekind on how to use a particular program and capture this and then upload to Youtube?

Opps I thought Fraps was free. I seem to remember someone at work using this which is free.

Just gave it a go, it is very simply to use, exactly what I am looking for.
