edit: UPDATED POST, wasn't worth a new thread!

How close can my ram be to a cooling fan?

Is directly underneath the heatsink so that I can't get the ram out a bit too close? Because that's what I've done. :o. Is it possible to move take the fan off, move then ram and put it back on again, or will they sticky stuff not work?

If so no, you won't need one if you're not going to be overclocking. And power consumption depends on how much power the fan requires, which doesn't differ a whole lot afaik.

If you're not overclocking I'd stick with the stock heatsink personally.

I think so, Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler.

Sorry to ask again but will it take away the problem of almost snapping my mobo in half when I try and lever down the CPU on, or is this me just being a girl?

Aftermarket coolers tend to have sensible retention methods, ie no stupid push pins.

Aftermarket coolers can be a lot quieter than stock coolers by virtue of their larger fans and larger surface area to dissipate heat.

It can be as close as you want it, as long as it doesn't touch.

I'm not sure how the fan is secured to the AC Freezer 7 so can't comment about sticky stuff working or otherwise or how it comes off. However a quick look at an image I found on the net seems to show the presence of some sort of push pin and clip arrangement.
