Do I need a general PC upgrade?

I'll be honest, i'm not one who follow mad FPS yo. I play NS2, BF4 and just do general surfing otherwise.

However....my kit is now just over two years old so while nothing jumps out at me needed a change I really have no idea how much things have moved on so although it may seem like a question only I can answer it does require some input :)

Intel i7 2600k
VTX3D HD 7850 2048MB GDDR5
OCZ Vertex 2E Bigfoot 480GB 3.5" SATA-II SSD
Various 1TB & 2 TB Drives
Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Corsair Professional Series AX650
Fractal Design Define R3 Midi Tower Case
Samsung Green 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 Channel Kit
Thermalright Venomous X Silent CPU Cooler

Old and aging or OK?

I'd say ok. As already said the GPU is the only slight weak link there but if you're only gaming at 1080p then it should still be fine.

If you've got cash burning a hole in your wallet then as stated a 280X or perhaps a 770GTX would improve things.

Or maybe spend some money on a bigger / better monitor? Bearing in mind that if you do, your current GPU will hold you back a little.

The 2600k is still a very good cpu. Ivybridge and Haswell have only seen small performance increases so no need to replace that. Good motherboard, top ram and like the others have said the only real low is the gpu but if it's serving you well, why change?

One thing i will say though, I hope you are not running those Sammy greens at stock speeds? They are fantastic kits and really want to be clocked. I have 16gb same as you and it's running at 2133mhz 9-10-10-21-1T at only 1.5v. Most of the seconds and thirds timings are tightened up too. Is the 2600k clocked at all?

Yeah I also have the Sammy Greens OCed but there's no noticeable difference :p Still nice for bragging or maybe benchmarks

Pretty much all my system is stock right now, dodgy PSU craps out when I OC, soon to be rectified.

however I never OC'd memory before - good gains to be had?

Get an SSD a new gpu and overclock it and you should notice a nice increase in performance

Well, I am running mine 533mhz faster than yours and with much tighter timings. Not sure if it makes much of a difference in gaming but it's free so why not clock it. It will do 2400mhz but i lose the tighter timings and have to run at 2T so 2133mhz is actually probably faster.

agree with the above posters. everything is fine for the next 1-2 years, if anything needs upgrading, its the gpu
and as previously said, sell your 7850 on the mm and get a cheap 290. a 290 can be had for 200-220 on the mm

Thanks for the input all. Got a lot on the next few months so will wait a while before upping the GFX.

So I ordered a new EVGA PSU because mine was a faulty.

Also bought a Swiftec H220 on impulse so I can get mad overclock speeds yo
