Do I need a magnetic screwdriver?

I always thought you wasn't supposed to us magnetic screwdriver near computers, or any electronics. That's why there are specially demagnetised screwdrivers available. Saying that Half of my screwdrivers are slightly magnetic and never caused a problem.

That's something i've never even considered, to be honest.. I always use a magnetized screwdriver, but then i DO always have system problems lol! :o

This is what I thought, that you shouldn't use any type of magnets around electronics.

Have always used magnetic screw drivers, comes in handy in tight situations.

But then again I haven't been one to take much care for apparent 'dangers' like static, and so far no problems!

i guess, realistically, they have a very small magnetic field anyway... Just don't go touching the circuits lol!

The only thing you're not meant to use a magnetic screwdriver around in a computer is the hard drive, because it's a magnetic medium.. although the chance of you actually altering data on it is so slim I wouldn't worry.
