I am in the process of upgrading. Spec is as follows -

P5Q-Deluxe
4GB Ram
8500GT
2 x 160GB Samsung IDEs
1 x Seagate 80GB SATA
1 x 500GB Samsung SATA
1 x Pioneer SATA DVDRW
Hiper 480w PSU

I built the machine up at the weekend without the 2 x 160GB, and the 500GB SATA drives which I use for storage. All seemed OK, no signs of any problems.
I added the three drives in today and it starts to misbehave. It freezes intermittently but then comes back to life. I've updated the bios as it was a little out of date, but if anything this has made the problem worse in as much as it introduced BSODs to the fray.

I'm currently reinstalling the OS just to be sure, but I am leaning towards the PSU not being man enough for the job.

What do you think?

PSU should be powerful enough for that system as it isn't a high end graphics card your using. I would download health check tools off each of the harddisks manufacturers website and run them (or the maxtor one as from my experience this works on most drives.)

Just an idea (has saved me in the past) check you have "spread the power around" run it off multiple molexes/satas etc instead off just one chain.

Just an idea :D

If it is power related then without a doubt it's the Hiper psu. They are very poor quality and are incapable of outputting the stated watts.
