hello,
ive got a xps 625 with the following:
2x ati radeon 4670's xfire
xfi soundcard
2x optical drives
and a 750w psu which i think is made by dell as it came with the computer.
anyway, i went to plug in a set of dual blue cathodes the other day and
when i switched them on and then off again it turned the computer off without
actually powering down the stack??

any ideas on what this is all about, or if its the curse of dell home brand again?

It seems odd, although if there is nothing wrong with it without the cathodes I doubt dell would offer any sort of replacement.

well it seems fine without them
but its only when i turn them off with the switch provided that it goes off

p.s i did get them from a well know auction site
they seem to look fine though

They may work fine just left on - but the switch part, when used, may be causing a short which would power down the PSU as you described.

If you can find a willing donor you could try them in another PC to confirm if it is the cathode switch at fault.

well its strange though, its as if it goes to sleep but the only solution is rebooting it?
if the swith is faulty do i just put i new one on it,
could the inverter be the source, i dont know wot that does though:confused:

ok so i swapped the switch out, no change,
heres a screen dump of speedfan, to show the power usages, if it helps?

im not too shure if im using to much power or what:confused:
but thats without the cathodes.

thanks:)

p.s are those temps good for just two fans and no cpu heatsink fan?
