Hi everyone, I currently have a Arctic Silver 600W PSU unit, is a budget buy, so I have no idea how good it is, should I buy a new one because I am thinking for a future upgrade? is it worth to go? so just keep with this old one?

thx for looking

Never heard of Arctic Silver PSUs, would be a good idea to go and read up around them (if anyones reviewed them).
As everyone will likely tell you, the PSU is not the component to skimp on, your risking any current hardware running off it, aswell as any future hardware.

Depends on what your future upgrade is going to be.

sorry made a mistake, is a arctic power 600w psu, which says had a low efficiency.
I wish to upgrade to intel i5/i7 cpus in the future, so I assume this one would not work very well. Anyone got a suggestion to spec me a new PSU?
got a budget around 80 pounds;)
thx for the replies

thx for the reply, so looks like is a very old design not fit for a modern components.
I will have a look in Corsair TX650, though not sure about the cables:D

You don't really need anything bigger than 400-500w unless you're planning on crossfiring big cards (5870+).

Brands I could really recommend are tagan, seasonic, thermaltake, corsair (altho recently found them too expensive for the quality), be quiet. Can't go wrong with any of these so check any of those in range of ~500w I'd say and you're all good.

On the modular topic - I'd definitely go with modular psu over normal one anyday but then again it comes to personal preference.

Tagans are made by ToPower who doesn't stick to highest quality caps and same applies also to BeQuiets made by them and other maker of BeQuiets is FSP who is in love with CapXon El Cheapos.
So those two brands can't be kept as high quality names.

Ive always liked enermax psus, corsair are pretty solid too, my current thermaltake toughpower has been a very reliable unit as well, basically a corsair tx 750w as both are manufactured by channel well tech.

Yep, Enermaxes from latest years use high quality caps. (not so with all of their older ones)
All Seasonic made Corsairs are high quality PSUs and same applies also to CWT made ones.
As overall CWT has really cleaned up their act after using those time bomb Fuhjyyus for so many years in PSUs they made for Antec and those ToughPowers and others high end PSUs made by them perform well.
And all Seasonics have high quality components and neither do their PSUs made for Antec have any offending caps.
After that it becomes mixed with brands using many manufacturers (Antec uses also Delta and FSP) with varying components and also manufacturers having loose definition of quality... As special mention FSP/Fortron has gotten itself stuck neck deep into swamp of mediocrity in overall performance.

Dunno where you read this but I've had lots of tagans going strong after 3-6yrs on many OCed rigs and never had a single problem with them.
I dunno maybe I'm just super lucky and had used the 40-50 best tagans in the world and all rest is crap. I also liked them more than corsairs.

Not sure about the newest series, havn't had any of these yet.

And yeh, seasonics are very good as well, forgot about those.
