Do I need a new PSU?

When I built my 2500K system (a few years back 3-4) the Coolermaster GX650 was included in a bundle with my case CM 690 II Advanced. I have since slightly overclocked the CPU and recently bought the asus 7970 matrix (that doesn't want to overclock much 1160). Whilst it works I cant say I have the most confidence in it. A single power cable with 2x8pin connectors power the card.

Should I upgrade my psu, I don't intend to crossfire but I do think I will be changing my CPU and motherboard at some point in the future. Ideally I would like to push my overclocks a little further.

Can anyone spec me a decent modular PSU that would fit the bill. SO many models with different manufacturers, Im guessing Antec but which one? Thanks for any help.

All depends on how much you are wanting to spend. If you want a fully modular one which is hugely efficient from small loads to 100%, the AX760 (for example) would take some beating, but it is costly and allows a good amount of headroom.

But, as long as you stick to a good brand (such as Corsair), you can't really go wrong :)

To be honest you shouldn't change it until you need it, and that would be when you would ever crossfire your card. Why fix something that isn't broken?

Thanks all, I thought my PSU was holding me back. I know its not the best but I tend to upgrade components slowly over time. I guess I will wait for a good offer to come on and get one.
