So I have an Antec semi modular PSU 450w

I am now running an I7 870 and will be upgrading to a 970gtx.

Most places rate the 970 as needing a 450w PSU but I am worried I am cutting it fine.

Should I look to get a new PSU even though this one is sufficient on paper?

Antec true power 450w semi modular.

Its grey, not black like they are now, it is a few years old.

I'm not at home at the moment so I cant get the serial number and it looks like it is end of life now, it is just before the bronze rating came in by the looks of it.

I wondered this when overclocking my i7 870, when going over 4ghz it begins to fall over.

I suspect the psu is not giving enough watts, I have just used the coolermaster power consumption calculator and it rates the 870 + 970gtx as 370w as stock. I think I am cutting it fine with 450w.

I have about £65~ in a paypal so i was expecting to use this towards a PSU so I guess its not out of range of my price. Semi modular are annoying though lol I have a semi and I dont need the 4+4 pin and it gets in the way, but I guess a small price to pay it doesnt matter as its the only cable I dont need to use.

Any website mods out there reading this - it would be really useful when looking at the PSU section of the website to have a category for modula/semi/wired.

A simple thing but saves having to look into each product to see if they are.

Edit: What I meant is to transfer from my PP account, I'll only buy from here lol

TBH if i am not going to SLI 2 970's, I will buy the next gen of cards instead, most likely dual gpu 8gb things will be out by the time I want to or need to upgrade. So a 550w will suffice for me.
