Currently have an Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 Speakers which is plugged directly to my mobo (Gigabyte P35c-ds3r)

Will buying a sound card improve my acoustic experience?
I mainly play games and listen to music

Yes it will improve your Sound & should free up some resources that can be used elsewhere. Onboard is liable to pick up intereference as well so it's a Win win situation. Even a cheap sound card will be a marked improvement.

If you want the cheapest route to improve your sound, pick yourself up a 2nd hand Creative Audigy 2/4 soundcard...if you can stretch to it, This....:)

thanks for the reply. i was also thinking of getting that one.

any tips for installing the sound card? never done this before/ never had a sound card before lol

Don't forget to uninstall your onboard sound drivers and the disable onboard sound in BIOS. From there on it should be pretty simple to plug the soundcard in and install the drivers, reboot and you should be good to go.

im about to purchase one today, and was thinking between the two cards.
X-FI xtreme Gamer or X-FI xtreme Music? which one should i get? what's the difference?
