Do I need extra case fans?

Hi

I'm about to build the following system. There are obviously 2 fans on the Antec 300 case (one rear, one on top).

I intend to build it first and then sometime in the short to medium term, do some medium level overclocking to hopefully take the processor to 3.0 - 3.2GHz.

My questions are:

1 Do I need to run both of the existing case fans?

2 Do I need additional intake fan(s)?

Thanks

not if your only clocking to 3.2ghz max

i would say thats fine but i would keep the 2 fans on in case just to get atleast some form of airflow

a lot of fans can make it hella cold in these winter months though :p

My PC went from pumping out warm air in summer to pumping out cold air, I'm probably going to lower the fans to lowest ;)

See how it goes with the temps. I've the tri-cool fans in my 182: quiet on low, okish on med, but too loud on high for v little extra cooling.
You may want to get better fans i.e Noctua etc, that are quieter, > air flow & < power.
You may want one to cool the graphics card or use riva tuner to up the fan speed on it

seeing as both the fans you mentioned are exhaust fans, i'd get some nice quiet inlet fans for the front, something like the sharkoon 1000,s or the akasa ambers.

It's well worth filling the slots... The front fans make a huge difference, the side one can too. Lots of slow fans can keep a PC as cold as a couple of fast fans, and quieter. The jury seems to be out on whether the side fan should be intake or exhaust but I've found it works well as intake, keeps the GPU cooler by suppying its cooler with constant cold air. I added a filter to that fan though, since it seemed a bit daft not to with the 2 front fans being filtered.

Thanks - I did look, but didn't clock that a filter would be a 'fan accessory' so didn't open the sub-category... :o
