as title, seems allot of people are having sluggish gaming me included,

I have a e6600 duel core and has served me very well, all the COD games great but BFBC2 Aarrghhh heavy battle fps drops to around 34 and thats with crossfire 4870, i know they are not cutting edge now but they are still good cards.

any advise would be great thanks.

Ps i do understand that the game is new and will need patching, why do PC games have to be codded by console LOVERS :(:mad:

I do hope it's also a ati driver update, i have the lattest update for BFBC2

Hi garethrobinson1 you need to update your sig ;) what was your before and after FPS from e6600 and quad core also what quad core did you buy ?

Thanks all

There does seem to be some slowdowns with the game and crossfire - but also havok (physics) is probably very multi thread capable and its used quite a lot in the game so having 4+ cores should have a tangible benefit to performance.

I am running 6420 @ 3.2 ghz 4gb ddr2 @ 402 mhz and a single 5770 and don't have any major slowdown issues @ 1680-1050 all on high
Are you running higher resolution ? are the 4870's 512mb or 1gb ? my settings here and it's pretty smooth I would suggest

HSAO=false
RenderAheadLimit=0 and toning down AA and AF

[WindowSettings]
Width=1680
Height=1050
Fullscreen=true
RefreshRate=59.883251
VSync=false
[Sound]
Quality=high
VoipEnable=true
SpeakerCount=0
[Graphics]
Effects=high
Soldiers=high
Vehicles=high
Overgrowth=high
Undergrowth=high
StaticObjects=high
Terrain=high
Shadows=low
Bloom=true
HSAO=false
MSAA=0
Water=high
MainQuality=custom
Texture=high
DxVersion=dx11
Aniso=0
Detail=high
RenderAheadLimit=0
Fov=65

Hi C64,
My 4870 are 1gig cards X 2 i have all settings on medium 1920 X 1200
RenderAheadLimit=0 HSAO=false, It must be a crossfire issue i am sure a quad core will also help thing out.

What is your FPS ?

Im using a 9450 @ 3.2ghz and it plays like a dream NEVER any slowdowns. Maxed out at 1680x1050, medium shadows (im a sniper) 2x aa 2x aq HBAO off. HTH.

No you dont

Runs real smooth on my system all set at high at 1280x1024. I have a core2 duo cpu with a 3870 gpu,, see sig for rest of system.

My rig is in my sig. No OC'ing.

All settings on medium with bloom set as false.

Average FPS around 60-70 on 1280 x 1024.

Only thing letting me down is XP, but that should be sorted this weekend.

Quad core does the business.

I must agree, i just upgraded to a phenom2 x4 yesterday from a 4ghz core2 and my fps has literally doubled, ive gone from 30-50ish fps to 60-90fps.
It appears it really is worth the money upgrading to a quad.

edit: thats with a single 5850 on high with 2xaa, 16xaf, hsao on 1920x1080

My overclocked bundle will arrive today so I'll update my sig when I've finished building it :D

I ordered the i7 930 (4Ghz) Asus bundle. I'll let you know what difference it makes, although as I said before, I've seen double the frame rate with a quad core i7 750 over my E6600. I currently average around 30-40fps.

Im running the following
q9450 @ 3.2, 4gb ddr2, 260gtx (216sp) stock clocks
and the following settings
Width=1680
Height=1050
Fullscreen=true
RefreshRate=59.882999
VSync=false
[Sound]
Quality=medium
VoipEnable=true
SpeakerCount=0
[Graphics]
Effects=high
Soldiers=high
Vehicles=high
Overgrowth=high
Undergrowth=high
StaticObjects=high
Terrain=high
Shadows=medium
Bloom=true
HSAO=false
MSAA=1
Water=high
MainQuality=custom
Texture=high
DxVersion=auto
Aniso=1
Detail=high
RenderAheadLimit=2
Fov=75

No slowdowns, EVER. Feels silky smooth all the time in every single map.

Went from Xeon E3110 (E8400) @ 4ghz to i7 920 and it made a big difference :) This definately plays better on a quad. It's not unplayable on dual though... you just have to use settings that are a bit lower.

Wouldn't say you need a quad core at all really... as good clocked dual would be fine, especially as they have released a patch early on to sort out issues people were having with dual cores. Initially there were frame rate issues etc with dual cores... but it is sorted now I believe. My set up runs it flawlessly with a dual core.

No, It would probably work on a single core cpu. It wouldnt run to great though i dont think. So you dont 'need' one but would be better to have.
