Do I need to backup my BIOS before updating it on a Gigabyte board?

Hi. I'm having some problems with my BIOS so am probably going to flash to the latest version from Gigabyte. Although, I've heard that updating your BIOS is a risky process that can render your mobo dead if you do something wrong.

But, seeing as I have a Gigabyte board with DualBios (mobo in sig.), I don't need to create a backup, do I?

You don't have to save your BIOS, you should be able to find it (at Gigabytes homepage or Tweaktown forums) again to download and re-flash if you want to roll back.

The best way to update your BIOS is by placing the BIOS file (may need extracting first) onto a USB stick and using the Qflash utility found within the BIOS itself.

Okay, thanks for the help :)

Also, the USB drive needs formatting to FAT32, right?

you can create a bios backup with @bios,but ALWAYS update/flash the bios with qflash as its safer due to not being windows based
