Basically the usb ports on my mobo must have become faulty somehow as they are not working as they should be. I have tried 2 keyboard on this build and both keyboards flash when they shouldnt and they both continuously type some times such as bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb. I hope I dont have to replace my mobo now. Can USB ports be replaced on their own.

Is it all the USBs (rear & front)?

What motherboard is it?

Does your mouse work ok?

You can't replace USB ports and if you could it would sadly void the warranty. :(

can anyone help me as ive had a lot of issues that i could do with some help on. Im pretty certain that it is the usb ports which arent working properly. I dont think its a software issue.

the usb ports pick up my charger for my wireless mouse and it works fine but my keyboard doesnt. It picks it up but it acts faulty and I literally bought this new keyboard today so it aint the keyboard which is faulty. It's an LED backlit one if that matters

If it is a Razer keyboard, then it is likely the Razer drivers. I have this issue with the two Razer keyboards i own and the way i have to prevent it from thinking the button is being held down is to unplug and plug in the USB connection.

Maybe the generic drivers are damaged/bugged in windows? Does the keyboard act funny when you have booted into BIOs or just Windows? If it's just Windows use your mouse and uninstall the keyboard drivers and replug the keyboard in.

If it also happens in the BIOs it is a very odd problem. Have you cleared the motherboards CMOS?

hehe no problem :)

This link explains the driver uninstall vaugely:

You could try the update button but if that fails you can click the unistall button to get rid of the driver (make sure it's unplugged through). Don't worry, when you plug in your keyboard again Windows will automatically install it again.

If that does not work you can try to reset the CMOS, the motherboards manual tells you how:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z87A/#support (you need to download the manual to read it from the Manual & Document section). The page about CMOS is page 39 :)

Hoped I helped ;)

will that wipe any data on my pc? as that could be a problem :P

The driver wont, it will only delete the keyboard driver. Clearing CMOS also will not. It will only return the motherboard settings to defaults :) Everything on your hard drive like Windows, games etc will be safe.

Did you try cleaning your keyboard?
I had this thing happen to my laptop, I sent it to warranty and they told me some key connectors were just dirty. Fat from sweaty fingers + dust = dirty keyboard. If you eat at same place where your pc is, this could be a bread crumb stuck somewhere, had that happen to me as well.
That would also explain why you have problem only with keyboard and not your mouse.

shoutout to Smoogels who is a awesome guy. Clearing CMOS worked. Although now my leds wont come on but i know they still work
