I have a 1000w PSU with 2x8pin connectors and 2x6pin connectors.

I’m looking to buy a gpu that has 3x8pin connectors.

The PSU came with a 6pin to 8pin cable, will this be ok to connect to the gpu?

Only 2x 8 pin and 2x 6pin pci-e connections on a 1000w psu is strange. Normally I would expect at least 6x 6+2 pin pci-e connectors with a 1000w psu so yours must be either old, cheap or you are missing something. What make and model psu is it?

Most brands have great, mediocre and avoid units, so a model number would be nice, but it's unlikely to be a problem, except that it's hard to know what kind of load is being placed on each connector (respectively to the other 2). How many of the connectors are on separate cables? Also, if you have an old multi-rail PSU, modern cards can get a bit trippy, so I'd suggest some "model number + card" googlage, to check there's not a common problem.
