Do I Need To Re-Apply It...?

Hi bought the 212 cooler recently, had a lot of trouble getting all 4 X mount screws in, this is a common problem with this cooler have to apply so much pressure.

So the question is; During me trying to get the cooler screwed in I took it on and off the thermal paste numerous times, also slid around a bit. Is this going to affect performance? My PC also sounds louder on idle than with the stock intel cooler but the temps seem lower or the same.

Bonus question; Is applying that much pressure safe for the CPU and mobo?

Thanks!

Yeah you prob won't have a good thin even spread without air pockets if you've removed and refitted. I don't have experience of that cooler so can't help you on the fitting side. Most coolers I've fitted don't require excessive pressure though.

Thank you, it seems to be covered all over the CPU but I didn't consider the air pocket thing!

Thanks

Ultimately - if temperatures are ok, it doesn't need to be changed. It may be a non-ideal application but provided there's paste over all of the surface it will be ok.

You can clean and reapply next time you're doing maintenance

Long answer - yes its good practice. Short answer - probably be fine, have done it numerous times with no difference in relation to a reapplication.
