Hi all,
Got a 7950 for my birthday.

I've currently got a 6770 installed, do I need to uninstall all the AMD drivers or can I simply, power down, swap cards and boot up?

Thanks

you can simply power down, swap cards THEN uninstall drivers with driver sweeper pro (or similar) and install the new drivers.

If you don't uninstall the drivers then it will never be right :P

Express unistall all the drivers (caps first).

Reboot.

Delete the AMD/ATI folders in your program files.

Install new drivers.

Reboot.

If running windows 7 run the 'windows experience index' by right clicking on my computer.

Happy birthday always good to get a new toy to play with

As mentioned above is always good to uninstall all old drivers 1st then insert new card and apply new drivers , may cause issues otherwise

Have fun :)

I never had a problem with just installing over the old ones.

I used to uninstall them, run a sweeper and so on... but to me, it's pointless unless you run into some problems.

Untill I run into a problem later on, I just install over the old ones.

I have this card coming tomora too and installing it prob tues on the sly. Will bench my Gtx 460 and then this after to try justify my huge cost to switch up.
Do I remove all nvidea stuff? I read somewhere that you can still install PhisX and have physics in games just your CPU takes the load rather than GPU. Is thi right?

Fingers crossed now AMD drivers just released that they aren't too flakey and gaming goes smoothly. I know loads of people have 7850's and 7970's, just hope AMD shows the love and support for the 7950's cos couldn't justify the extra cost when gaming at 1920x1080 and hope it lives on for a while and is much better than my GTX460 that I have really enjoyed owning.
