Am running a RM850x, had it over ten years now. It's running a 12900k with a 2080ti. 12fans with separate water cooling systems for cpu and gpu. I've just bought a 3080ti. And have considered replacement for the Rm1000w as this will use the same cables. What are your thoughts? Or is there better psu out there now. I can also replace the cables at a later date is a different psu would be the better choice. I do like the asus range. But always had corsairs in my builds. Also found the HX1000 cheaper. But does this use the same type cables.

You sure it uses the same cables? 10 years is a long time and Corsair change OEMs pretty often. Would be uncomfortable replacing a PSU and not the cables, no matter how confident I was, though I know Corsair actually have a public standard with a version number, unlike most manufacturers.

In regards to changing, I'd just try it and see, if it works for now then you can wait until the new models are released and decide which one you want (...or not).
Type 4 is what it says on the premium cable kit I bought.

Personally I would be a bit 50/50 on changing the PSU, sorry not much help. But if it's still in warranty and you have had no issues with it, I believe 850w will still be okay.

I will say though if I read this correctly, you are planning on keeping the same cables that came with your PSU if you replace it with a different one. That's a big no no, I wouldn't even chance it personally if you got the same branded PSU but that's just me. All cables aren't the same between different brands and you could face serious stability issues.
I bought the Corsair premium Cable kit. Made for my RM850X.
