Hey Guys and girls,

As you know i built my systerm under 28 days ago.

Nowadays, when i play high fps games (Such as Sims 3) the graphics card makes a whine buzzing noise. It only happens during the loading of the game. Then once the game is in the playable environment, the noise reduces. The noise varies in sound like a high pitched to low pitched. Something like this :

However, during Far Cry 3, La Noire etc its all fine no noise. Some people have said its coil whine from the GFX but im unsure if its a issue that needs RMA'ing?

Help?

Thanks

Its where the card is producing a large amount of FPS, its best to cap the FPS for moments like that.

A classic example would be the Counter Strike Source benchmark, I have gotten over 1000fps at times during that. Menu's etc will also do the same as you have noticed

its pretty normal for every gpu to whine in game menu's or whilst loading,if its doing it in the game itself and can be heard through the speakers/headphones then id rma

can also be your psu/motherboard combination

any whining noise that annoys you calls for rma imo

Afaik, coil whine isn't classed as a fault and therefore won't be accepted for RMA in a lot of cases :(
DSR regs would cover it (or any other reason), but if it's out of the DSR time limit, you may be out of luck unfortunately.

I've spoken to Competitors and OcUK and if it is a loud whine such as mine it would class as faulty.

have you done the usual trick,in letting it run heaven on a loop for a few hours? it might lessen the noise
