Ive got a Gigabyte P965 DS3 and an E6400. Im goin to get a Freezer 7 Pro or the like soon and whack on just to get it up to 3Ghz. Thing is, im doing a whole 'shut my loud PC up' thing, with Sharkoons and a new HSF. Do I need to ruin all that quieting by sticking a 40mm buzzing hornet of a fan on my chipset heat sink for the OC?

Cheers

I have the same board and CPU cooler... the chipset does get pretty hot but it should be OK if you have good case airflow. It seems pretty tolerant - before I got my new case the NB was too hot to touch under load but it still kept my E6300 stable at 3.1Ghz for Folding 24/7.

If it bothers you I'd sooner rig up an 80mm or 120mm fan blowing slowly over it than use one of those horrible 40mm ones.

I think you may be rite, Ill go for another 120mm or something fan. What ways are there to attach them other than standing it on the back of the gfx card and fixing it with string or something?
