Do I really have a X2-4800 or A Rebadged 170 Opty

Hi All,

Now I have a X2-4800 with the following steppings :-

ADA4800DAA6CD
CCBWE 0524RPMW

Now when I enter the stepping CCBWE in to google all I get back is info on the 170 Dual opty, now as the title suggests do I have a true X2-4800 or a rebadged opty.... now if its a rebadged opty where do I stand on getting a true X2.

The cores are the same. Therefore, sometimes you get the same steppings across brand names. Some Opterons had the same stepping as Athlon FX processors. It doesn't mean anything, your processor is still a 4800 and will perform like one. In fact, it's more likely a good thing from an overclocking perspective to have the same stepping as an Opteron, as they seem to be better chips for overclockers.

Cheers , just what I needed to know, I thought the stepping would be used across chip brands but wasnt sure Cheers..... still stuck @ 2750..... I need more power captain !

check with cpu-z might identify which one it is, if u still want to try and find out.

Everything says its a 4800 I was just checking........ I just thought it was strange that its the same stepping for a 170 Opty... I did a search in dogpile in it has shown me that I can get 3Ghz stable at 1.7vCore not that I would try it and 2.9Ghz stable at 1.625vCore.... Shame my mobo dosnt go that high seems to be a good stepping chip from what I have found.

Thanks anyway..... Im quite new to AMD chips and all this stepping mumbo jumbo I used to be in Intels camp..... the grass is certainly greener this side of the river
