Do I really need 120hz for gaming ??

Buy one and see if you like the 120hz experience. If so, buy two more. If not, DSR the 120Hz and get 3 x 60hz boxes. Just a thought

I noticed a difference, however now that I have upgraded my card it will hopefully be better again. I noticed it more with the less demanding games as my 6870 would struggle sometimes @ max settings and run smoothly. Yours should breeze through with a smooth performance with your PC setup.

there is a noticeable difference in responsiveness and smoothness between even the fastest 60Hz TN Film models and those screens with 120Hz+ support. Not to mention they wil allow for much higher frame rates and support for 3D content as well if you ever wanted to use that. If you get a model with LightBoost as well you can also benefit from an added significant improvement in perceived motion blur reduction for gaming, so there's another benefit to consider as well as the native frame rate increase :)

It depends what your after, I prefer accurate colour reproduction. Having had a standard Samsung and then upgraded to a Dell U2410 the difference was massive, not much change for gaming. Your eye's cannot see discern much above 60Hz anyways

I was skeptical with everyone saying "you have to see it first hand" so I took the plunge, got this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-070-BQ&groupid=17&catid=510.

It is a noticeable difference, my rig is a bit old so I am only managing 70-80fps in most titles with some detail turned down just to try it out and it was a noticeable improvement.

Even just using Windows is it smooth, just moving the cursor and dragging windows about. Sounds weird I know but hard to explain without seeing it ;)

Worth every penny.

Dodgy TN panels at 120hz or a quality IPS screen? for me IPS and IQ all the way. As already stated for competitive gaming then 120hz screen makes sense.

OP, no-one technically 'needs' 120Hz for PC gaming, however you have 2 7970s...so yes, in your case go for it. Just be aware that to get 120fps at 5760x1080 resolution you're gonna have to turn down the odd graphics setting or 12
