Do I really need a 580?

Sitting here thinking about it.

Why it would be nice to have the top single GPU GFX card, is it really worth the expense?

I will be playing mainly FSX, Total war series, BF3, COD........and rollercoaster tycoon :D

The 560Ti seem good for the buck. Can they cut the mustard well with these games?

Nocky,

This is for my new build. An i5 2500k with as rock extreme 4 gen 3 mobo. At the moment I play at 1680X1050, but I will soon be at 1920X1080, so I need to be prepared for that.

I guess it goes by how much you like to run your games with high video settings....

Some people are happy with playing there games with the settings set to medium and low, where others want to max out the settings

No I want to max.

Just love playing maxed out Napoleon: total war, Which amazingly I get quite close to with my current setup. And I hope to play BF3 at 1920X1080 at max settings. Maybe I'm asking too much of a 560/570.

I realise FSX is more CPU the GFX based. So hopefully the i5 at 4.6ghz will manage that. At least until Flight comes out.
