At the moment don't have anti virus, I have never really heard of anyone on osx needing one, however after reading the thread about the keylogger in GD I'm tempted to get one.

So which firewall/antivirus? :)

OS X already has a firewall, make sure it is turned on under Sharing in System Prefences, remembering to opt for stealth under advanced.

Antivirus/spyware is not needed.

No, you don't really need one and as for installing applications, they don't install unless you are asked to put in password (or click ok if no password).

BUT if you're using Mail in Mac (non-web-based e-mail) and share/forwarding files regularly with Windows users then it might be wise to get AV since you don't want to pass on unsuspecting viruses for windows users! :p

I think the old saying " .. Better safe than sorry .. " comes to mind

I prefer to call it "The belt & braces" approach :D

The Mac platform is pretty secure if you've got common sense+firewall turned on, the antivirus will stop you passing on Virii to other Windows users.
