Ok looking at upgrading to Conroe.

Here are the parts I have chosen so far:

CPU - E6600
Mobo - EVGA 680i
GFX - 8800 GTX (if money permits lol)

Now as for memory I have been looking at both the PC6400 Cellshock or the Crucial 10th Anniversery stuff. But I have found all the rest of the parts I am after cheaper at another etailor, but they don't have those 2 sets of memory :(

They do however have the following ram:

2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2 Dominator,DDR2 PC2-6400,240 Pins, NonECC Unbuffered, CAS 4-4-4-12, EPP

What I want to know is if this is ok ram or is there better corsair stuff? I am gonna be on water and want to clock the CPU as far as possible. Basically I am not interested in uber SuperPi or 3dMark scores (although they are nice) I just want to be able to play games out now or in the future with all the eye candy on my 24" monitor. So what do you recommend?

Avoid that memory for now. I think it uses promos chips whereas every other set of quality ram uses micron D9 chips.

Go for this:

Crucial Anniversary PC2 5300 C3

or

Cellshock PC2 6400 C4

Don't worry about the lower speed rating of the crucial ram, just look at the timings. It will clock through the roof too if you relax the timings. These sets of ram will rival about anything available in the world at any price. :)

Was afraid someone would say that lol.

Looks like I am gonna have to shell out extra money then just to buy from OCUK. Pitty as the other etailer had a good deal on the E6600 :(

Tell me what sets of ram are available to you and I'll tell you if they are any good. ;)

Hi Jay_t, just want to pick your brains if I may!

Looking to upgrade to an Intel E4300 on a budget board (ASRock 775 DUAL VSTA) and looking at some RAM that would mean I could do some overclocking.

Looking at OCZ® Value 1GB DDR PC3200 400Mhz CAS 3 (£60 or so ), or the Geil Value 1GB DDR PC3200 400MHz DDR (Cas 3 8-4-4) with Aluminium heat spreader (£60 or so).

Are these two capable of giving me decent OC figures, and if so , which one of these RAM is better?

Reason I am getting PC3200/DDR400 RAM is because the Anandtech review of the ASRock 775 DUAL VSTA said the DDR to DDR2 difference was minimal so just saving a few pounds.

Why not just buy the RAM from OCUK and everything else from the other place?
