Do I really need to upgrade my CPU?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently in the process of thinking about revamping my PC with some much needed TLC,

I'm not sure whether or not to upgrade my CPU from the 2500K that I have now

I'm going to be putting in mainly a new GPU and another SSD,

PC mostly to be used for gaming and the odd bit of work but nothing too intensive,

If I was to splash out on a new i5 4690K would I see that much of an improvement?

I know i would need to purchase a new mobo but I need to anyway as mine has given up on me,

Bottom line will the new CPU make much difference?

Thanks in advance peoples

If you're overclocked then your CPU should be fine.

If you're not overclocked then pushing your CPU will give you more performance than an upgrade.

Perfect thanks a lot, thinking of an ASUS Z77 board and then an AOI watercooler on it such as the H100i so I think that would do the trick no?

If you can find a decent board then I see no reason to get rid of an overclocked 2500k. Good luck finding one. Not a fan of AIOs though.

SSD will be a nice upgrade also.
