I am looking into purchasing the BenQ XL2420T as to upgrade my current 60hz LG 22" monitor. With my current MSI 670 OC reference card in Battlefield 3 I am averaging 87-93 on Ultra on a 32 player Rush server on Davamand Peak for example. My question is to make the full use of an 120hz monitor should I get myself another MSI 670 OC and run them in SLI?

I have many questions on this, such as:

> Is this needed?
> Is this a bit of an overkill?
> What heating issues will there be?
> How will my stock 3570K with stock heat sink cope?
> Should I upgrade from my Cooler Master CM 690 II Nvidia Edition case to maybe a Trooper/Stryker?
> Also looking at a Corsair AX760 would this be sufficient or should I go for something like the HX1050?

Thanks in advance.

Well I have the MSI 670 OC in my basket on Overclockers with the Corsair TX850. The temptation to hit buy is unbearable.

SLI is great but can have issues like yhe amount of heat created from having 2 cards means the coolers have to work harder and in turn leads to more noise.

If noise isn't an issue, go for it.

I've bottled it (well for now). I am going to go ahead and buy the BenQ XL2420T andthey see how my current PC will perform. Going on that basis I might then wait for the new GPU's depending on there launch time and get a 780 or whatever then.

If you're getting between 80-100FPS already there's no "need" imo (my eyes technically) to add another card to ensure 120FPS, for me anything above 90FPS all looks the same (you're eyes may differ though!).

That said, go enjoy 120Hz :D

120hz is like night and day against 60hz, load up BF3 for a day on your 120hz, then flick it back to the 60hz screen and you can't hit ANYONE the screen looks so **** - you'll wonder how you ever used it! :D

I have a single 670 clocked high (sig) and it does run BF3 extremely well, I'm near 100-120fps in most places with SSAO off & everything else ultra & 4xMSAA (I prefer 120fps to things I won't notice, SSAO hits FPS hard I think). So you won't need an extra card for BF3, however, the latest games I find it takes it down to 60-80fps. Especially the new Crysis 3 beta, that hit my card hard.

I'm going SLI 670 in a week or so, I hope, with an XL2420T purely for the extra power and to future proof my system. Go for it

Ok so I have the monitor turned up on Saturday. Rearranged my whole desk and booted it up. WOW! Battlefield looks amazing. I have on the high preset and staying around 80 on stock cpu/card and haven't dipped below 60 fps on Oman like my previous set up. Seems really smooth so impressed os far.

I will be giving it some time now maybe next year where I will look back into either going SLI or getting a later GPU.

Side note: XL2420T is amazing monitor and looks really good. Also love the screen cover.
