Right chums, looking for some advice.

I was going to await bulldozer but have decided not to wait any longer.

My current system is:

AMD 965
Asus 6850
8 gig ram
WD Black HD
Antec 300 case.

Thinking of doing a fresh new build as follows:

My question is will I see a significant increase in performance etc? I use the pc for gaming (Starcraft 2 and BFBC2), some video encoding and some light seti@home.

Would like the pc to see me through the next 2 years. I should also mention I can offload my old rig for £400 and so moving to this fresh new build will cost me £450 ish.

Any thoughts and help on the parts I have chosen much appreciated as I have never built intel.

Also, should I now use the opportunity to try an nvidia card and if so which one?

yeah been fiddling with the cpu, managed 3.8 with some success

Was just going to upgrade gfx but thought whilst I have opportunity to sell old rig I might as well?

Always bought ati/amd, mulling a switch to nvidia for a change, though I feel the 6950 is calling

starcraft 2 is kinda weird its perforamnce is heavily based on how good a CPU you have.

Also please beware that Blizzard games like Starcraft 2, wow, diable 3?
perform much better when using Nvidia GPU,

not 100% sure why but something about them being better optimised to Nvidia cards rather than AMd card. Its a significant difference.

If your rig is struggling upgrade it

but if it was me i'd wait for bulldozer info/ BF3 min spec info to come out etc.

i5 2500k is already 7 months old,
new generation of GPU cards gtx 6XX, hd 7XXX out soon? new gen normally means using less power/less heat/more performance 1 or all 3 of those.

what resolution do you play at? 6850 shouldnt be struggling mate on 1 screeen.

Have you overclocked your cpu at all?
