Do I wait for DDR3 to come down in price?

As above really, i'm looking to upgrade my system, as it sucks playing UT3 on lowest quality. Currently on a 7900GT, Opteron 165, DDR1 setup. And if I upgraded i'd obviously be looking at DDR2, but would it be redundant pretty soon?

Not until AMD use it on the AM3.

A year or two. DDR2 will be with us for a long time.

A historical perspective: DDR2 was introduced in the second quarter of 2003 but only when AMD switched to it in the second quarter of 2006 did prices begin to fall in a meaningful way.

Nobosy for desktop use really used DDR2 PC3200 (think that was name) that ran at 400mhz, took of a bit more when it was 533mhz.
