do laptop coolers work?

Today after a month of waiting for it to be built, my new laptop has arrived. I'm going to be using it for gaming a fair bit, and to keep it cool I'm wondering if those powered laptop coolers actually work? Has anyone tried it who has had lower temperatures?

I've got one coming tomorrow (though laptop is still enroute from Dell) as all the reports I've seen do say that they work, I'm expecting approx a 5deg drop from my Cooler Master U3

I have a Cooler Master U3 which my Samsung G700A sits on. It deffo works. When on the cooler I see ~6-7deg drop on gfx and cpu temps.

For the cash worth it imo
