someone said that matt screen protectors make it easier to see tablets/phones in the sun in one of my threads earlier, i asked if it worked, but he didnt visit the thread again i dont think.

im sat in the sun atm and i can barely see my blooming tablet because of the sun!!!

do they work? are there any particular brands to look out for/not bother with
are the cheap ones as good as the expensive ones?

They're only good for eliminating reflection off the screen. They are in fact very slightly worse in a bright environment due slightly reducing the amount of light they let through.

So, if you're bugged by reflection, they are great. Not so if you want improved visibility in bright environments.

I have currently got a matte screen protector on my Galaxy Note, and I think I prefer it to shiny. You do lose a very, very tiny amount of definition with matte, i.e. I used to just about be able to read the forum fully zoomed out, but now I can't quite. They're cheap enough to give them a try tbh, so you won't lose much if you don't get on.

They make it a bit easier but they make the picture quality look like turd, even the expensive ones (I've had some for review in the past).

sometimes it is reflection rather than the direct sunlight, i.e if im on the train i can see my own ugly mug in it rather than what im watching, so it might be worth a try then.....

il just try with a cheapo one i guess :/

I personally think most of the time they are rubbish, best thing I can recommend in bright sun is turn the brightness up lots, I find that makes a much bigger difference.

At work we purchased an "Anti Glare Privacy Filter" except it actually reflected more light than without a filter. The viewing angle with the screen was amazingly small however.

Agreed the only worse I've experienced was a mirror protector, pathetic, the only actually good protector I've used which enabled the screen to work properly is liquid armor.

I can tell mine now needs reapplying after 6 months because of the grease and finger prints that now show, they've been nonexistent for the past 6 months.
