Do POTS->GSM bridge devices exist? If so, what are they called?

I'm trying to find a way of turning a run-of-the-mill burglar alarm into one that can dial out via GSM, rather than a traditional phone line. I know a lot of alarms have a GSM option, but this particular alarm is quite old and doesn't have a GSM module available.

I dimly remember looking at a box that was effectively a phone line -> GSM converter / bridge, which allows you to plug in a RJ11 phone cable from something that's expecting a regular POTS phone line, but it actually ends up dialling over GSM.

Do these exist? What are they called? Where would I get one?

I was working with a Onestream GSM gateway recently that accepted pstn connections through an FXO port.

Hmm... Not sure that's what I'd do though, I'd perhaps look into something which could send an sms when it detects the line going live.
