I've had a fault develop with our fridge freezer, where its intermittently tripping the electric when you open one of the doors. I googled the fault and it seems a recall notice was issued for this product with this fault in 2012.

Would I still be able to claim on that or do product recalls "expire" as the model itself has been discontinued afaik. I appreciate its over 10yrs old, but if its possible to get it repaired for free then that's preferable to just disposing of it and getting a new one.

You may got missed out on recall initially from probably not filling in the form online/with the instructions or moved home without contacting the manufacturer

when it is safety related they usually don't expire, even if the model is not produced anymore. Likely they will either refund money, noting some depreciation, or provide a replacement fridge with similar features.
