Do rads have a lifespan?

I'm thinking when it pops a leak. Rads aren't like the rest of the hardware you get for PC's where there does seem to be a definite expiration period

The RAD in your computer will out last you tbf. Look at cars+other things, they can last 20 odd years(some don't I admit) And they go through a lot more "abuse" then what your average computer rad is likely to see.;)
 
I think rad wise, the main things that can go wrong is dust (which can be cleaned), clogs from coolant reactions or algae (which can be cleaned) and leaks (which can be avoided by not shoving a screwdriver through it).

Lifespan of rads are pretty long i would think. Have seen some watercooling builds which to this day use radiators from before PC watercooling equipment was mainstream and these rads are apparently still going strong!

Maybe if you treat your rads right, they will even outlast the case!
 
That's good to hear. It just popped into my head 90% of pc components have a MTBF. Was slightly worried I had overlooked the idea of replacing rads and that it may spring a leak :(

Good analogy about the car rads you are quite correct.

Paranoia got the best of me momentarily considering electronics inherent dislike of water :D

Providing it's looked after ok and you give your loop a clean out every so often that rad will last you many builds. Unless it fails and springs a leak which is very unlikely.
