Do recovery partitions on Vista laptops disappear if you install XP?

Its a HP G7015EA, it doesnt have recovery discs only a partition.

I hate vista, but if the xp install goes wrong i want to be able to go back to it.

Reckon the recovery partition and recovery process will be available and functional to me after i install XP?

XP will only install on the partition you tell it to, so the recovery partition will be safe.

As CoreRipOffDuo states, be aware when installing which partition has the recovery data on it and install to another partition.
