Gradually die, or do they just switch off and not work again?

Having some major problems with my connection, we've got a Belkin Wireless router, but i know for sure its not the wireless part. I've had the thing hard wired and the connection still comes in at about 10% of its rate.

Its not like this all the time, it does go back up but its very temperamental and right now more often than not its very poor, 56k speeds.

I've contacted Nildram who reckon its not them, the line BT reckon is fine, so last thing it could be is this, is it?

Anyone had any experience testing this equipment to fault find?

Cheers.

Oh, you'd have to be a bit more specific than that mate, don't really know much about them.

That would depend on the exact model (for example: F5D7230-4). If you can tell me that, I can work out how to get the status page up. Does it have a manual\quickstart guide?

Am doing the old http://192.168.2.1/

As it says that the connection is at max, ie 2272k, but for the first time tonight it actually feels like it is, i'm speeding around, it will die off in a few min though true to form.

Haha! ME upload is better than me download, excellent! :D

Your speed may have been cut by the ISP because of your router disconnecting. They interpret that as line instability and reduce the IP profile, and thus the speed that you can send\receive data at.

So it could be the router?

Only the reckon they detected no faults from their end, would they not know that they were dropping the line?

Well it didn't update.

It sort of did nothing after selecting the file, i left it for well over 10 mins.

In the end i had to do a factory reset, then uploaded my old settings, and since then its been very nippy, i wonder if it just needed a fresh start?

BT speed test shows 1849 while speednet shows 1947.

Still going strong this morning, i think a factory reset has been enough to kick it into gear, although i was on the phone, again, to Nildram who escualted the incident to BT, so i don't know which came first, only that its still good and thats the longest its been on full for about 6 weeks.
