Well I'm trialing Atmos 4.1.2 and it sounds amazing, same does Dolby Surround.

The issue is, this is only via PC, on the TV, I can't seem to get 5.1 from any apps like Now TV, BBC iPlayer, Netflix or Amazon Prime. Under sound settings it does seem to specify bitstream or PCM, and then under the second option there is PCM and some dolby digital options that are grayed out.

This is on NU7400 TV.

Amp is TX NR686 Onkyo

Any ideas?

The TV will have 5.1, could it be a setting on your receiver? So options on TV being greyed out?
I've got a Samsung nu8000 but my receiver doesn't have arc so I used a £2 optical lead and it plays 5.1 fine in prime, Netflix etc.

As above those Apps on the Samsung TV should do 5.1 fine.

Have my Samsung TV connected to my Sony STR-1080 Amp via ARC on both ends. When playing 5.1 content on Netflix / Prime and the like, the "Digital Output Audio Format" option in Expert settings you mentioned, for me will automatically switch to Dolby Digital + and AV confirms the signal as 5.1 Dolby Digital + also. Odd that they are greyed out.

Could be worth checking for any settings on AV side.

It's working now, the amp auto switched from DD to Stereo depending on the channel, you can tell it switched as well due to a red icon on the amp but also the amp makes a loud double click for some reason. Must have been a glitch with the TV as I disabled ARC, enabled surround via optical and then moved back to ARC and removed optical and magically it works.

the source is a (windows) PC ? via hdmi into the tv
I hadn't realised that Iplayer running on a pc can playback the 5.1 audio, and haven't yet tried the new fullhd nowtv service.

Well I have Atmos set up on the PC. This was the apps on the TV, turns out it was just a glitch and optical then back to HDMI sorted it.
