Basically we're buying one of the kids a new phone for xmas, it works out cheaper to get it on contract but I'm concerned she will over use it.
Do any providers allow you to lock the tariff so she can't go crazy and run up huge bills.

Cheers Faz

O2 does this automatically (afaik). They sent me a warning that I'd gone over my lower limit after I took a two hour conference call abroad (wasn't the cheapest of calls :p).

as above, certainly with o2 you can set a lower and an upper limit (both of which you can change) if you go above the lower limit it will give you a warning, if it goes above the upper limit i think it prevents you from making calls.

Thanks for the replies, I'll look into an O2 contract, she's on O2 payg at the moment so I'll see about changing it to a contract

Kid + Contract phone = bad :p

I know that's what I was thinking :) , I honestly don't think she'd run up a bill on purpose but I can see it happening.

T- Mobile U-Fix contract, basically if you go over allocation you have to top it up like payg.

This is the best idea, the best of both worlds in many ways.

FYI Orange cannot provide a service where your phone is cut off once you reach a certain limit, although you can set up a PAYG phone with an automatic monthly or weekly topup charged to your Orange Contract account, which is closer :)
