An odd question, I know, but I have a landline phone two feet from a Smart Meter and it seems to be losing contact with the base unit. I completely replaced all the phones with a new phone, different make, and its doing exactly the same thing. I mean exactly. Could this be due to the Smart Meter?

It is potentially possible, the smart meter uses GSM (i.e mobile phone network) and ZigBee (similar to bluetooth connection).

The ZigBee side of it could cause interference as it uses a similar bandwidth to DECT phone handsets.
