Do the PC & Console Gaming Sections require more active Moderation? [Poll?]

Seems to be coming up more frequently, Mods if you do actually see this any chance of a poll?

PC and Console Games are the only forums which i feel are truly under-moderated on OcUK. Not just today but historically there's been a lack of a truly active mod, where as in the majority of the other forum sections there has always been at least one really active mod. I feel that this section is starting to suffer from it as can be seen in the many fanboy threads which are appearing, where some people are now resorting to blatant trolling and personal attacks. An active mod in both sections could fix this problem, additionally there's been an increase in the number of competitors being posted.

So, people of OcUK PC & Console Gaming forums. Speak up! Do we require an active mod? Yay or Nay?

Also a mod who is into games, i am nore sure, but i get the feeling Minstadave isn't reallllly a gamer.

In addition to using your voice in this thread, can people please start using the Report Bad Post option. This forum is on a fast track to spam/flame/troll heaven and we need to sort it out!

In addition to this the stickies are so badly out of date, there's things which shouldn't be there, things that should which aren't. Etc etc.

Totally agreed with you here, there's some good mods assigned to the section, but I feel they spend more time in other forums where their expertise lies, can't blame them!

Well surely that proves the section is speaking and the problem remains. Each time the thread has been brought up before a mod normally agrees to spend more time here, yet the problem continues because generally speaking the mod doesn't always spend more time here.

This was supposed to be sorted out months back, so if its still an issue then I guess it didn't work.

I don't spend as much time here as I used to, but generally all I see are people hinting at competitors, or bickering amongst console/game threads.

They're *fine* yes, but this forum is normally a great joy to be a part of.

Flame fests really do ruin threads, I mean that one about the new direction in the Game industry just turned into "Who's sold more?" - totally off topic.

If some members would just grow up then there wouldn't be a need for more moderation.

:EDIT: I think it was Yewen who said he would spend more time in Consoles+PC gaming but he's been pretty inactive recently. Less posting than usual, 50 in the last month, only 5 of which were in the games sections. I'm not saying it's his fault as we all have lives, just trying to identify what went wrong.

The threads that get ruined by the petty arguements normally contain quite valid points and information which then become completely splattered with crap. That's just not how it should be, by the time mods come online and check the reports the thread is already totalled.

It'd be easy to just let it move off the front page if everyone were a decent poster, unfortunately that's not the case.

Maybe it's time for separate 360 / PS3 / Wii forums?

I'd scrap the useless Mobile Phone forum (does OCUK even sell phones? ), merge Speaker's Corner with General Discussion and chuck the music and sport forum in there too.

I don't think that there are any problems in here. There was a bit of fanboyness with the release of the (massively overdue and horrendously expensive console with an utterly barren games catalogue) PS£ as some (misguided fools) felt it was a better console than the (mighty, perfect, fault free and fantastic) Xbox 360 and the (gimmicky, childish, not for gamers) Wii.

There has been too much talk of emulation or swearing lately and these threads/posts have been up for over 12 hours, though it's not *that* common.

The fact you don't see a moderator presence is more than often a sign of good moderation than bad moderation.

Would I like another moderator? Yes. That's just personal preference though.

I think the thread has only come up due to the amount of PS3 vs 360 threads and the amount of bordem it is bringing users of the console section, once the release of the PS3 has died down it should go back to normal (I hope)

I do think there should be another Mod to the section though, especially an avid gamer with no bias opinions of course
