Just reading this article and wondered what you all thought, do we all want bigger Turbos?

They do make a huge difference in the performance of a car it's just whether the rest of the engine could cope :D

I'm quite happy with mine, and the wife likes it too; as she saif to me the other day holding her hand out for the keys "Can I ride the beast on the way home?"

She says she meant to say drive.

Less weight thanks, stop building fat bloated heavy cars in the first place and you won't need ridiculously huge turbos and more and more power

The survey also showed that drivers in the south are more likely to give their car a power modification than drivers in the north who place more priority on how their motors look, rather than perform.

definate garbage!

I wouldnt mind a very slightly larger turbo, but only because i'm pushing the limit of PSI through this one now i reckon! Doubt it would fit though as its very near to the bulkhead now!

Thing is, larger = longer to spool, more lag, etc.

9L FMIC on the diesel (with ice spray) 4tw!!

Actually it's not - if you study this in detail rather than jumping to conclusions/taking offence at it/whatever, social demographics shows it's almost certainly likely to be the case.

I won't bother sitting here and typing 8 paragraphs on social demographics and how can use them to surmise that actually, yes, it probably IS true becuase I'll simply get flamed by everyone who lives in the North who'll probably have missed the point.

I live in the North, didn't miss the point and certainly won't flame you :D

I'd quite like a GT2871RS for the drift car, but no bigger, I need a wide power band.

but then theres not much left I CAN mod, really.

Happy with my T25, spools up quickly providing plenty of torque low down for a nice effortless drive. Just what I need on my daily commute. :)

I wish they created more technology for this type of thing.
There are tubos and superchargers but i would like to see someone creative think of something that is better then both of them and that doesnt have the bad things about them

I enjoy the relative lack of weight and stupidly powerful brakes on my current motor (more on that when I get back in my 1st ever project thread! - They ain't standard any more :D).

Can leave braking till the last fraction of a second and hack off all the faster cars by just simply outbraking them :D

Would be interested to see how a Sprint reacts to a turbo though. Few supercharged ones about, and a turbo'd Sprint engine in a Spitfire but I've never seen one in a dolly. Bit tight :)

I think the automatic assumption that "Bigger turbo = more power" is just one of those relatively simple assumptions that most people make. In some ways it's true, but it's full of complexities.

Gotta be driving the right wheels mind. None of this Fairy-Wheel drive stuff ;) :D
