Do we know when the 80Gb PS3 will be here?

If they brought out a 8gb or 120 gb id well buy it, ive already got a 360 but home, playtv , the psp intregation and gt5 mgs4 killzone 2 little big adventure. If it had ps2 emu then id deff buy it. Would pay 350 max. Should cost around that becuase of that bluray laser shrink and the cell die shrink, should reduce costs by a bit. Or i may wait for the slim for a few years.

I cant see them adding ps2 emulation back in. Personally when im getting one Ill just buy a bigger hard drive anyway.

The NTSC version of the 80Gb model has software emulation for PS2 backward compatibility. Should be the same if its released over here.

Sony probably dropped the ps2 emulation to prevent the ps2 being devalued, ps2 is still a strong seller. PS2 emulation will probably be put on an update when ps2 sales drop off completely but by then probably no-one will care anyway.

i'm getting a ps3 next week and getting 40gb doesn't even come into it... gonna be upgrading the hdd in my macbook soon enough so the 120gb can go in the ps3 :)

however if they bought out a new one in the near future with added goodies etc i'd be a bit miffed, but hey if you followed that philosophy of waiting you'd never bleedin' get anythin would ya :)

..and if so, what price target it will be and what will happen to the 40Gb in terms of price?

Thanks

Geez, things are behind back in Blighty...

Actually Sony are now discontinuing the 80gig over in the USA... Not sure what they are going to replace it with, something with a bigger HD reworked internals.. no doubt..

Once the stock is depleted that is..

I simply slammed in a 320GB WD Scorpio into my new PS3 (before I'd even switched it on and tested it).

likewise, its a doddle to do and unlike good old bill it doesnt invalidate warranty, i had a 60gb model and tbh i never played a ps2 game on it sold that at christmas for a stupid amount and bought a 40gb, more than happy
