Just posted this in existing one but thought it also deserves thread on its own:

I think this thread needs to be locked and new one started with rules:
Name of the GAME!!!
Spoiler tags after 2-3 images
No image quoting
And maybe have a file size limit to stop people uploading xxxxxMB pics.

People not posting name of the games is really annoying and people keep asking for it all the time. Also posting lots of images of a same game can be annoying for others not interested in that game or having 4-5 posts in a row of the same game.

The other 2 I don't really mind but I guess it may be issue for people checking the thread on the move (phone, tablet).

What do you think? And maybe we could have a poll....
 
biggest annoyance to me is people downsizing pictures and making out they doing it for saving upload when its blatantly obvious they doing it to make the image look better :p

STOP DOWN SIZING IMAGES IN HIGH REZ THREAD ! :D

lol lets do a game pic at 400x600 to make the image look better :D

the amount of skyrim and pcars images like this is astonishing .
 
Overall, I'm happy with it the way it is.

I have no issue with image quoting or down sizing, though I think naming the game is a good suggestion. I can also understand the idea of spoiler tags, although scrolling down never bothers me at all.

Totally agree. The thread is becoming too messy now and it seems like people are just posting random, frankly uninteresting shots for no reason. The idea of the thread IMO is to post artistic type shots that have character, like an interesting photo or piece of artwork where the shot was taken from an unusual angle etc. Also it's good for posting funny shots and shots that show off a cool graphical feature of the game engine like DoF etc

At the mo it reminds me of a really boring photo album: here's me with my sword, here's me with my sword on top a hill, here's my car going left, here's my car going right, here's me next to a wall, here's my sword again etc.

I'm going to big up Skyfall now among others cos they post good quality shots.

People should check out www.deadendthrills.com for inspiration.

I don't see it that way myself. If you don't like someone's screenshots, then just move along. Nobody's pictures will be to everyone's tastes. :)

What does it matter if the picture looks better down sized? Its not a willy waving comp. I prefer it, at least I can see the whole picture.

Sometimes it's a bloody pain looking for when a stream of uninteresting pics stops with some people, sometimes they take up 2/3 of an entire page

exactly, it's a screenshot thread to show your best screenshots, whether they applied loads of post processing or even Photoshop as its about artistic images, sometimes you can use the thread to gauge how a game looks, but generally like skyrim and pcars, using those shots to judge the game is maybe not a good idea, most of those shots can be heavily modified etc..

using the screenshot thread should be for showing your best shots of your fav games, I see so many shots in that thread of the sane game, showing the same image shown a few posts back , I want eye candy not repeats...

some of the skyrim shots are wonderfully crisp and wallpapers worthy ... however number of bioshock images from the same game area... boring..

and some chap recently dumped his entire pic folder for war thunder.. totally boring.

agreed, why post 30,shots of the same game with nothing to offer then just showing your travels in the game.. ok some skyrim shots are like thus, but I think the shots that nake you site there and actually look at them are worth more. I'd rather two amazing artistic shots then 30,boring shots. thread has too much of that.. sadly you have to shift through a lot of dross to get to the good artistic stuff that makes you go wow or take it in..
 
I am happy with the current thread, just people need to remember to use spoiler tags on actual spoilers and/or super huge res pics also.
 
I've never seen someone post too many screens as such, it takes just a few seconds to scroll by if you don't want to look at them.

I do agree that there should be a rule that you name the game if you post any screen shots. Other than that the old thread is fine.

Don't really need a new thread, we just need mods to enforce those two rules I quoted above

Tired of scrolling past tons of images that I have (and probably others) no interest in viewing, it isn't hard to post 1-2 images then put the rest in spoiler tags and will only take like 1-2 seconds to do........

It has hit the point where I CBA to view the thread due to the constant stream of the same game most of the time.

And then not to mention when you go and get someone who quotes them all again on the next page or sometimes the same page! :mad: :p
 
except - there should be no modifications (PP) to screenshots other than downsizing

to me - if any PP is applied to a screenshot - other than simple resizing - its no-longer a screenshot
