From what I read in the news it seems that a huuge number of people keep a blog, so i am guessing quite a few of you on here do? I'd be interested to see some of your blogs - post them here!

edit: (I kinda have one but its a bit rubbish http://sorryimlate.wordpress.com/ but that isnt the point of this thread)

No, of course not. People who assume their mundane, every day lives are of interest to the rest of the internet obviously have enormous ego's. The stuff i do on a daily basis is so mind numbingly boring to anyone but myseld and my freinds I wouldn't dream of wasting bandwidth on it, and I've got forums if I want to post my thoughts on life.

I don't. Who cares what I think about George Bush? The same applies to many others. Why write a blog unless it's going to be read by an audience that will appreciate it?

Blogs exist to give those who frequent Starbucks with their laptop something to do. They go to Starbucks so that everyone can see them write their big important blog. How hip.

Might not be interesting to you, but look how big the internet is. A mundane day of one person could be very interesting to somebody of different origin and culture.

Plus, it's not as though blogs are delivered in your face. You have to subscribe to them to recieve updates.

But then there's the 1 in a 1000 from someone who can write in a way that makes you want to read more. I'm failing to come up with an example but I can assure you there are a few good blogs out there.

Nah, I don't use blogs for a few main reasons a) I don't think that most of what I do is all that interesting to anyone bar my mates and since most of them are around when I do it then it would be a bit pointless, b) it would mean taking more time out of my day to write something very few people would care about (including me), c) I just can't be bothered.

I'm sure there are some fascinating blogs on the internet, I just don't happen to have read any of them. :)

I did have a blog a while ago, updated when I remembered I had one... which meant about 5 new messages. :p

Someone told me I should get one, so I tried it. Didn't like it. I don't read any either.

I'm extremely anti-social on the internet. I read three websites - BBC, Something Awful and OcUK. I post on OcUK quite frequently and SA rarely. I read other things linked from these forums and close the window down once I'm done. Finally I play online games but rarely talk in them.

I hate blogs. I hate "social networking" online. I can see some of the benefits, but I prefer real life. I don't need the internet to prop my life up and give me an 'outlet' to tell people about how bad my life is (is not) or post my daily thoughts on whatever crap I feel my opinion counts on.

On the other hand, I post my opinion here like it matters so that makes me a ta hypocritical at the same time. Ahhh well... off to the pub!

Blogs dont necessarily have to be about yourself, ie in a diary style, infact I have never read a personal blog like that. As an example Gizmodo and goodweatherforairstrikes are two that I read regularly (one about gadgets the other music).

My Blog is http://sorryimlate.wordpress.com/ It isnt really a blog as I can never be bothered to do it and I have never told anyone about it! Also I have no idea why I started it really, but yes I guess it is a little egotistical.

www.sidtheturtle.co.uk is mine, mostly game related.

Personally I hate the words blog, blogging, blogroll etc. though :D

Not bad :)

I have a blog, but I see it as a diary I type in rather than for an audience. You have to pay to see it, and then only if I invite you, so it's not quite as self indulgent as some.

I don't. What would I write about?

Post 1:

Today I went to school, did some work there. After school I came home and went on the computer, one the same websites as usual, and then posted this. I expect I will eat food soon, and then come back on the computer and go on the same websites again, after which I will probably lift weights.

I honestly think it would be very boring for people to read, and I would end up wasting my time. Those who write blogs must have a very exciting life, or must have opinions that they feel will benefit people. I just live in a way that I see as good, but is, I suppose, boring to read about. I also don't feel that my opinions are any different to a lot of opinions that people have.

Always thought you were older. :o

If all you do is go on your PC and lift weights then it's probably best you don't blog. :p

Some of us enjoy doing a bit more in life. ;)

Well to be honest it depends on whether you actually have anything interesting to blog about. If it's just about what you did today, what you're going to do tomorrow, then it's rather pointless and egotistical. However, if you've actually got something that people might find interesting to read, then it's worth it :)

Look at robmiller's for example:

Yeah. :p (I did actually have a blog a while ago about beginning to use Ubuntu, but I switched back to Windows, and it was getting tiresome to write several articles per day).

(I am glad you thought I was older to be honest).

I was tempted to write a blog on shell/perl scripting and how I work around everyday problems for work and miscellaneous stuff, but then I guessed that no one apart from nerds with hardons for code would read it.
