If my body didnt need sleep I would never fall asleep. I see it as 6-8 hours of my life down the drain 
I love to keep my mind active and doing things. I tend to go to bed/sleep when my body is just about to crash. I feel this way I get to bed a straight away go to sleep.
I have tried it a few times where I go to bed early. I just end up tossing and turning and thinking about things for a few hours before I finally fall to sleep. So I figure I might as well just fill them few hours tossing and turning into doing something I want to do.
I also hate getting up though
But once I am out of my bed I am fine. Splash a bit of water over the face just to wake me up and its all gravy
