Do you ever laugh in your sleep?

Over the last 2 months I have started doing this a lot. My family can hear me laughing and I often wake up laughing and with the laughter tickle in my solar plexus.

I'm interested to know why it has started happening. Not a medical thread I hope as it's obviously not an illness, just intrigued. I much prefer it to the bouts of sleep paralysis which scare the crap out of me.

I don't know why this happens but just last night i heard my son laughing in his sleep and just put it down to having a good dream lol

That is utterly bizzare.

I could understand if you laughed during sleep where you don't realise it, and your partner/wife has to tell you. Bit like snoring really.

I do this very rarely. When it happens it's brilliant!

One time I'd basically written the best sitcom ever - in my sleep - and woke up laughing, feeling proper mirth I haven't had for years and for about 10 seconds I could remember it all. Then it just went. Bugger.

A friend of mine had this. We all thought it was a bit of a joke, as did he. Then, one night, he laughed part of his stomach out of his mouth.

Turns out it was some sort of chronic inflammation around the diaphragm, eating away at the surrounding tissue.

He's alright now, but has to blend up the majority of his food.

Yeah right. Way to put a dampener on the funnies.

That doesn't sound like he's alright now! :p
