Do you feel your job is worthwhile?

Yeah, I suppose so. I'm an electrician, although the work can sometimes be boring at times there are moments of great satisfaction such as completing a large job and knowing the work I have done is going to contribute to lots of peoples lives.

Shame so many people seem to think of it as an unskilled profession...

That is a proper shame if true, I have nothing but respect for electricians (worked with quite a few of them before). Not many people realize how complicated the job really is. Saying electricians are unskilled is like saying you can figure out the Da Vinci code in your head.

Not everybody thinks this way, but generaly if you are working in an office (not so much with homes) there seems to be a building trade = unskilled unless you are an architect or are in a shirt and tie.

Mabey I should ask them to do their own cable calcs or double set some 25mm conduit :D

As a postman it's nice to see a persons face light up when I arrive with a huge parcel or something else that they're eagerly awaiting. Despite the endless knocking, we do seem to be still held in some regard in the local community.

On the other hand when I'm ramming treeloads of junk mail through a letter box or delivering mail at stupidly late times, then it just makes me feel rather worthless and I wonder what Royal Mail has, or is becoming. :(

I aid companies in their quest to comply with the absurd tax system we have in this country, by completing their tax computations.

My job is worthwhile and I enjoy it.

Same, except at the moment I'm helping executive expats comply with tax law and structure their future transactions in a way that reduces their tax bill.

Shortly moving into a department which makes sure departments sell goods/services/capital to other internal departments at a rate which reflects what an independent company would charge.

Of course, in my spare time I try to cure cancer. I hope it will appear to me in my sleep.

If by worthwhile you mean letting the masses continue their pathetic excuse for an existence as they shuffle about their daily business, fouling up an already fouled up world, then sure. :)

I hate my job, but it means you guys get to buy your greens! On a side note I am quite selfish don't care if my job is worthwhile, as long as it pays the bills and I have a good disposable income I'll be happy.

Didn't feel any satisfaction with my last job(s). Just feeding societies greed for new gadgets/crap that they want to buy. Also, working around mobile phones for so many years has made me hate them with a passion (especially the iPhone :D).
