Do you game in the dark?

Depends on the game, Doom 3, Dead Space, etc it makes more sense to play late at night with the surround sound up loud and the lights off, for FPS, RTS, etc it's blinds open or lights on. It also helps if you have a backlit keyboard for gaming at night.
 
Natural light during the day and at night the room has a dimmer switch which I set to the lowest setting, which I find just right.

I know what you mean, wife comes in to my gaming room and taps me on the shoulder while playing L4D with headphones on. A couple of times she has nearly had to dial 999

I think she is after the insurance money..lol

backlit keyboard for gaming at night is a big plus and I love mine.

agree with you there.

mostly i play in the dark. i find it more immersive. however if i am playin multiplayer games i tend to have the light on.

i have had EXACTLY the same problem - i was playing metro 2033 at about 11pm in complete darkness with the headphones on quite loud and the cat decided she wanted a stroke - she rubbed herself against my calf - i literally jumped out of my chair smacking my knee on the bottom of the desk...

- the pc instantly shut down
- the cat **** itself and ran a mile
- i had to have seven stitches in my knee

Try to have as much natural light as possible as long as it doesn't glare on my matt screen. In the evening tend to have low light levels, very rarely pitch black.
 
I have tried to game/browse net in the dark at night with no light on, but it seems to strain my eyes.

So now when it gets dark, I just turn my main light on (Don’t have a dim so it’s just full all the time)

But may try get some of them led's and have them behind my monitor aiming towards the wall behind, Maybe that might help stop straining my eyes, not sure yet.

I have 2 of those, came with my mobo xD

On topic, I have no lights on during daytime, when it gets dark I turn a lamp on in the room. If I play a horror game, I turn the lights off :).
 
Dark for me. I remember years ago when I first started playing silent hill on the ps. Playing that at 3 in the morning, in the dark, I **** myself!!
