Do you get much noise from your computer tower?

I've been using a laptop for around 6 years and only recently bought a new computer, I can hear a bit of a rumble coming from the tower when i have football manager running, i assume this is the hard drive and normal? I only ask as i'm only used to the laptop fans making a noise.
 
Depends on what you have in there.
Mechanical hdd do make a bit of noise, but ssds are completely silent.

Larger fans tend to make less noise than smaller ones and will usually be a lower pitch.

If you have an aio water cooler the pump can make noise, and depending on how its orientated you can sometimes get like a bubbly noise if there's some air moving around.

Can also get coil whine off power delivery parts. Usually gpus, but sometimes mother boards and power supplies can be whiney.

For the most part though desk tops are usually a lot quieter than a gaming laptop
 
If all you hear is hard drive noise while playing games, then you're doing pretty good. Usually you'd hear fans ramped up on cpu and graphics card too.
 
If it is a kind of grating rumble then it could be coming from any bearing in the pc. Could be a HDD and may indicate it is faulty or could be any fan in the pc with grit in the bearing.

If you are using the HDD as a storage drive and not for your OS then disconnect it and boot up the pc and see if the rumble is still audible.

Without knowing every moving part in the pc it is impossible to predict what is making the noise.
 
I sometimes get a strange buzzing noise, turns out it's my case: one of the side panels, resonating. Touched it and it stopped. Sometimes comes back but a touch/tap fixes it.
 
I can hear in my case:
Hard drive(s)
AIO pump (getting replaced when I swap case) - actually this seems louder than the fans lol
Case/AIO Fans when they ramp up (I do have high rpm, so louder, ones though)
GPU fan when it ramps up, fan doesn't spin when idle.

You kind of get used to what noise is what over time though.

From your description it doesn't sound abnormal.

Could you share the specs of the computer; especially the case and the hard drives - this may help us to dig deeper if that would be helpful to you.
 
@Rage1999 - are you sure it has a hard disk? How recently did you buy the PC? Hard disks are really out of fashion now for PCs. If it does have a hard disk then I agree with the others that "a bit of a rumble" is normal if running an app which is regularly accessing it. But if that PC has a solid-state drive then that rumble will be coming from something which should not be making such a sound.

Just have a good listen inside, often it can be stuff like reverb when a fan hits a certain speed, or perhaps a cable catching on a fan etc.
 
ive noticed it's happening when the left hand side fan on the graphics card spins, guessing theres not much you can do about that?

also i've noticed the inside of my computer is gathering dust already, best way to deal with that?

I dug through the thread you linked but couldn't find any reference to your drives.

If your GPU is in warranty and the fan is broken you could consider an RMA.

If you're out of warranty most GPU fans can be replaced or you could consider a third party cooler. I think there's a couple on the Member's Marketplace right now.

no noise when i have gpu fan constantly running, must just be the noise it makes when its coming to a halt/starting again.
 
I have often had to put a step in a fan curve to eliminate noise at certain rpm. I have also replaced fans both out of warranty and under RMA. I thought that maybe I was being unlucky or over-sensitive to noise...
