just ordered a sim, and about to make the move, from most of my research it all sounds rather good. however i did stumble across a few posts that say its a gynnypigged service from o2 (which i knew) but due to that the data can be throttled or not given the same priority as O2.

just wondering if anyone has had any issues with slow data moving from say o2 to giff gaff?

Well it is unlimited but if you start going ridiculous like 2GB in a day or so I'd imagine they'd tell you politely to stop. But I dunno.

i properly should have phased the question better, i mean does the internet seem slower coming from o2, i just some stuff saying as its 2nd hand you could possibly get slower speeds than say the chap next to you on o2.

Giffgaff is O2 with a different name, voice and data depending on coverage have egzactly the same quality.. I have giffgaff and my wife has O2 and i cant see any difference at all..

I moved from O2 to GiffGaff last month and appear to have slower 3G speeds compared to O2 on my iPhone. One other bugbear is that the Voicemail button does not work with GG.

It varies a fair bit depending on time of day, location etc as you would expect but I've not noticed it being slow and I tend to stream a fair bit. Just ran speedtest now and I'm currently getting 4.5mb download and 2.3mb upload.

Yup... giff gaff does not support visual mail - if thats what youre referring to.

I havent noticed atrocious speeds with giff gaff but cannot tell if its worse than having an o2 sim in the same area - however I doubt they would purposely do this.

that is what i read, yes you get unlimited data and it uses o2, but according to this expert on hotukdeals he said its second rate data, and if in a busy area you wont get the same speed as joe bloggs stood next to you on o2.

saying that i have ordered my sim and will give it a blast for a month or two

Ive been on giffgaff for a few months now, and so far so good. Will be staying on it for the foreseeable future. I don't get 3G signal in my home area (nor do any other networks), but when I have had it the speeds seemed good.
